The Fire in the Borgo

An engraving generally attributed to Marco Dente, reproducing (in reverse) the composition of Raphael's fresco of 'The Fire in the Borgo', painted in the Stanza dell'Incendio in the Vatican in 1514. With inscription in Latin lettered on the second step at lower left. First state. The arched format of the fresco's composition was changed and adapted to the rectangular format of the engraving.
