Studies of angels and God the Father

c.1853-76

Albumen print | RCIN 852403

A photograph of a drawing currently in the Royal Library, Windsor Castle (RCIN 990320). Two of the groups of flying angels correspond with groups in Raphael's Disputa. It is also similar to a drawing in the Louvre (inv. no.3890). Ruland (1876) suggested an attribution to Fra Bartolommeo; Popham and Wilde (1949) ascribed it to Amico Aspertini.
  • Acquired for the Prince Consort's Raphael Collection (c.1853-76)
