ATTRIBUTED TO GÉRARD AUDRAN (1640-1703)

Moses and the burning bush

c.1660-93

Etching and engraving | 43.4 x 53.3 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 853523

An engraving identified by Ruland (1876) as being by G. Audran and having been made from a drawing. The composition in the print appears to be related to the fresco Moses and the burning bush painted by the workshop of Raphael (c.1517-19) in the vault of the eighth bay of the Raphael Loggia in the Vatican, though there are some variations.
