AFTER A WORK ATTRIBUTED TO RAPHAEL (1483-1520)
God the Father in a flaming cloud, attended by angels
c.1853-76Albumen print | 28.1 x 40.6 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 852766
A photograph of a drawing now in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (inv. no.WA1846.138), connected with the composition of Moses before the Burning Bush, designed by Raphael and painted in the vault of the Stanza di Eliodoro in the Vatican. The authorship of the drawing (currently attributed to Raphael, but formerly ascribed to Peruzzi) is subject of much debate. For further discussion, see Bibliographic References. See RCIN 854564 for a photograph of the verso.
