AFTER A WORK COPYING RAPHAEL (URBINO 1483-ROME 1520)

God Appearing to Noah

c.1853-76

Albumen print | 17.6 x 14.0 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 852750

A photograph of a drawing catalogued by Ruland (1876) as being then in the Uffizi in Florence. The drawing appears to be a copy from Marcantonio's engraving of 'God Appearing to Noah' (see RCIN 852744) which, in turn, was presumably based upon a model by Raphael for the ceiling painting of the same subject in the vault of the Stanza di Eliodoro in the Vatican.
