Ruland (1876) followed Passavant (1860) in describing this print as after a small painting then in the possession of J.J. Sandrart, who described it in his work entitled Der Teutsche Academie. This print has also been included as illustration in Sandrart's Nobilissimae Artis Pictoriae (published in 1683).
