The Coronation of the Virgin with Angels and Saints, and God the Father above

c.1530-35

Engraving | 35.6 x 25.6 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 853213

An engraving after a design generally attributed to Raphael. Fourth state (not described in Bartsch). Signed with engraver's monogram (a die with the letter B, lower right). Titled and lettered with initials of designer (lower centre). Lafréry's address (originally at lower right) has been scratched off. Along the lower margin is Domenico de' Rossi's publishing line. The engraving is generally dated c.1532. According to Bartsch, this print is a repetition of an engraving of this subject which he described as in the style of Agostino Veneziano (B.XIV.64.56). See RCINs 853214, 853215.
