AFTER A WORK ATTRIBUTED TO AMBROGIO BERGOGNONE (C. 1470-C. 1524)

A study of drapery for a standing figure

c.1853-1876

Albumen print | 23.9 x 12.9 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 854498

A photograph of a drawing depicting a standing figure now in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, Milan (inv. no. 1055).

This drawing was traditionally attributed to Raphael but it is now believed to be by Ambrogio Bergognone (see Bibliographic References). Some scholars suggested that this drawing could be related to one of the saints executed by Borgognone in the Sala Capitolare, S. Maria della Passione, Milan.
