JOSEPH CUNDALL (1819-95)

A nude man and a boy

1861

Albumen print | 22.2 x 14.0 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 854395

A photograph of a drawing catalogued by Ruland (1876) as being then in the collection of A. Fountaine at Narborough, Norfolk. By this, Ruland was probably referring to Sir Andrew Fountaine (1676 - 1753), a British scholar and collector, whose collection was sold at Christie's on 7/10 July 1884. Annotated on the verso.

Details of the photography of works at Narborough Hall for the Prince Consort are in the Raphael Collection correspondence (RA VIC/ADDA10/85/141; RA VIC/ADDA10/85/142; RA VIC/ADDA10/85/176; 50; RA VIC/ADDA10/85/192 and RA VIC/ADDA10/85/200).
