A fortified town

c.1853-1876

Albumen print | 8.7 x 11.4 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 854538

A photograph of a drawing attributed to Fra Bartolomeo depicting a fortified town now in the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm (inv. no. NMH 275/1863).  Annotated on the versoo.

The online catalogue of the Nationalmuseum of Sweden (see Bibliographic References) notes that at the bottom of this drawing is a cartouche without any inscription. Exactly the same cartouche is found on one of two Fra Bartolomeo drawings in the Albertina, Vienna (inv. no. 17578, see RCIN 854521 for a photograph of it). This cartouche is inscribed RAPHAEL VRBINAS.
