A print after a painting attributed on plate to Philippe de Champagne which was then in the collection of Cardinal Richelieu (Galerie du Palais Royal). The lettering below image identifies the man in armour as Gaston de Foix, Duc of Nemours (1489-1512). The subject reproduced in this print resembles closely that of a plate by Michel Lasne, two impressions of which can be found at RCINs 851550, 851551. Published in ‘Galerie du Palais Royal’, vol. I, 1768-1808.
