The Ascension of Christ
published 1803Etching | 22.6 x 18.9 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 850565
An outline etching depicting The Ascension of Christ. This print is lettered under the image with the title in French, German and English. Signed by the printmaker with the attribution of the drawing to Raphael. This print was published as plate 419 in C.P. Landon, Vie et Œuvre complète de Raphaël Sanzio, 1803.
See RCIN 850564 for an engraving of the same subject, which was probably the source for this print. The authorship of the engraving is a matter of dispute: Agostino Carracci and Domenico Tibaldi are the artists usually associated with its execution. See Bibliographic References for further discussion.
