The Adoration of the shepherds
c.1853-76Albumen print | 14.4 x 12.1 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 850495
A photograph of a drawing now in the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm (inv. no. NMH 293/1863) where it is attributed to Ridolfo Ghirlandaio. Annotated on the verso.
This drawing was traditionally thought to be by Raphael, an attribution that was then rejected in favour of Perin del Vaga, who initially trained under Ghirlandaio. On the basis of similarities with a painting now in the Snite Museum of Art, Notre Dame which is attributed to Ghirlandaio, the drawing in Stockholm is now considered to be by him.
