Elymas struck blind
c.1853-1876Albumen print | 20.7 x 29.1 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 850570
A photograph of a drawing depicting Elymas struck blind now in the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm (inv. no. NMH 305/1863).
Traditionally believed to be by Raphael, this drawing is now catalogued as a copy after a now lost study by Taddeo Zuccari for a fresco depicting Elymas struck blind in S. Marcello al Corso, Rome (c.1556-58), which he never executed. Much debate is about the authorship of this drawing: some scholars recognised in it the hand of Peter Paul Rubens. See Bibliographic References for further discussions.
