A photograph of a drawing attributed to Perino del Vaga now in the Musée du Louvre, Paris (inv. no.593).

The drawing, dating from c.1540-3, is a study for one of the six intaglios engraved in rock crystal by Giovanni Bernardi for the Cassetta Farnese, an embossed silver-gilt setting made by Manno Sbarri in c.1548-61 now in the Museo e Gallerie Nazionali di Capodimonte, Naples. Copies of the drawing exists at the Albertina, Vienna (inv. no.447) and Christ Church Picture Gallery, Oxford (inv. no.0161; photograph at RCIN 851812). The composition was also engraved by Giorgio Ghisi (Bartsch XV, p.403, no.46).

Other studies by Perino del Vaga connected with the Cassetta Farnese are in the British Museum, London (inv. nos.Ff.1-62, 1946-7-13-565) and in the Louvre (inv. no.594; photograph at RCIN 852273).
