    A photograph of a drawing currently in the Berlin Kupferstichkabinett (inv. KdZ 21502). Ruland (1876) associated the drawing with Raphael's ‘Bridgewater Madonna’ and conjectured that it may have been an abandoned first thought for the painting. The ‘Bridgewater Madonna’ (c.1507) is currently on loan to the National Gallery of Scotland, Edinburgh (inv. no.NGL 065.46) from the Duke of Sutherland Collection. Showing the seated Virgin holding the Infant Christ on her lap, who turns His head back to meet her gaze.
