The Virgin and Child reading in a landscape

c.1853-76

Albumen print | RCIN 850649

Two photographs of a varied and larger copy of Raphael’s Conestabile Madonna (c.1503-04; Hermitage, inv. no.GS 252), the original circular format of which has been altered. According to Ruland (1876), this copy belonged to the Ospedale Santa Maria della Misericordia, Perugia but was deposited in the Pinacoteca Civica, Perugia. One of the two photographs was listed in Ruland's Raphael Collection catalogue, the other is likely to be a later addition.
