A photograph of a drawing by Raphael (c.1509-11) now in the Boymans-van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam (inv. no.I.110). In Ruland's Raphael Collection catalogue (1876), the drawing was described as being then in the private collection of the Grand Duke of Tuscany. The drawing is a preparatory study for the figure of the Infant Baptist in Raphael's so-called ‘Alba Madonna’, a painting now in the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC (inv. no.1937.1.24; see RCIN 850853.a for a photograph of the painting).
Showing the full length kneeling figure of the Infant Baptist, turned three-quarter to the right, looking up and cuddling a lamb. Ruland listed the drawing as being in the at the time the Raphael Collection catalogue was compiled.
