A photograph of an oval drawing now in the British Museum (inv. no.1895-9-15-615).
Ruland (1876) attributed the drawing to Raphael and catalogued it as being then in the collection of J. Malcolm, Esq. Although different in a few details, the drawing corresponds to Raphael’s so-called Canigiani Holy Family (c.1506-07; see RCIN 850756 for a photograph of it) and has been regarded as a copy after a lost preparatory drawing.
Showing the Virgin supporting the Christ Child on her knees, who leans forward to the Infant Baptist resting on St Elizabeth’s lap, with St Joseph standing behind them and supporting himself with a stick; in a landscape.
