AFTER A WORK COPYING RAPHAEL (URBINO 1483-ROME 1520)
A study of three male figures
c.1853-76Albumen print | 22.7 x 12.3 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 852241
A photograph of the recto side of a drawing currently in the Gallerie dell'Accademia, Venice (inv. no.105r). The drawing closely resembles a study by Raphael now in the Albertina, Vienna (inv. no.106; a photograph at RCIN 852240), of which it is thought to be a copy. The Albertina sheet is related to a lost or never executed composition by Raphael, commonly known as 'The Storming of Perugia'. For further discussion on the subject, see Bibliographic References.
