AGOSTINO DEI MUSI (C. 1490-AFTER 1536)

A woman with a vase on her head

dated 1528

Engraving | 18.1 x 12.0 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 852322

An engraving depicting a woman carrying a vase upon her head which Bartsch believed to be after a drawing by Raphael. Signed with the printmaker's monogram and dated 1528. Trimmed within the platemark.

Massari (see Bibliographic References) catalogued this print as based on a design by Giulio Romano and noted a similarity with the same figure frescoed in the right foreground of the Fire in the Borgo, Vatican.
