Fortune's Promises
c.1500-1550Engraving | 24.1 x 18.1 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 851967
An engraving formerly attributed to Enea Vico. Bartsch rejected this attribution without proposing any further one, and suggested that the original composition may be by the school of Raphael. Lettered at lower centre with two lines in Italian: 'Io son Fortuna buona, ho meco Amore, / se mi conosci, ti farò signore', which translates as "I am the good luck, I have love with me / if you know me, I will make you a master".
