Photograph of three soldiers from the 3rd Battalion Rifle Brigade who served in the Crimean War. They are gathered around a metal pillar with a building behind and a taller pillar to the far left. From left to right: Private John Sitcombs, Colour Sergeant A Holdaway, who is seated, and Colour Sergeant J Johnson. They are all wearing military uniform with the Crimean Medal and are holding a sword. This photograph, printed by Jabez Hughes in 1883, is a carbon print pasted over the original photograph.

These soldiers were awarded the Crimean Medal by Queen Victoria on 18th May 1855 and were later photographed by T R Williams in Portsmouth.
