Photograph of Colonel Gordon seated in a chair facing slightly left. He is wearing a peaked military hat and a cape. Behind him is open land and there is a cannonball to the right. This photograph, printed by Jabez Hughes in 1883, is a carbon print pasted over the original photograph.

Colonel Gordon served with the Royal Engineers during the Crimean War and was badly injured during the Siege of Sevastopol.
