Photograph of Sir George Brown (1790-1865) and his staff including Major Hallewell (1822-1869), Colonel Brownrigg, Colonel Airey (1803-1881), Major Pearson (1831-1890), Captain Markham (1830-1886) and Captain Ponsonby (1827-1868). Sir George Brown sits on a chair in the centre of the group with his head turned left and his arms folded. A soldier sits on the ground to the right and the other soldiers stand in a semicircle. They are all wearing military uniform and several wear bicorn hats. There is a pile of rocks and a hillside behind. Sir George Brown commanded the Light Division during the Crimean War and later became the Commander-in-Chief of the British forces in Ireland.
