Photograph of Sir Colin Campbell sitting on an upholstered chair facing left. His legs are crossed and he is resting a feathered bicorn hat on his knee. He is wearing military uniform with a sash and is holding the hilt of a sword in his left hand. There is a plain backdrop behind him and an item of furniture covered with a cloth to the left. Sir Campbell commanded the Highland Brigade during the Crimean War, and organised what came to be known as the 'thin red line' at the Battle of Balaklava.
