Photograph of five Railway Officials, Mr Swan, Mr Cadell, Mr Middleton, Mr Howse and Mr Kellock, gathered in front of a building with a tiled roof. Two men stand by the open doorway and two men sit to the right with a small window behind them. Another man sits by the door to the left holding a long stick. They are wearing suits, coats and hats.
The Crimean War was among the first conflicts to utilise railways, with a purpose built railway bringing provisions, ammunition and medical supplies to allied troops during the Siege of Sevastopol.
