Photograph of Major Hallewell (1822-1869) reclining on the ground with his right arm holding up a cup. A servant standing to the left is bending down to pour him a drink. There is a saddle on the ground to the left and cooking utensils and military equipment spread around him. There are a number of tents behind. Major Hallewell served as Assistant Quarter Master General of the Light Brigade during the Crimean War and remained in contact with Roger Fenton after they returned from the Crimea.
