Photograph of Major-General Sir Dacres (1799-1886), Captain Hamley (1824-1893) and Colonel Adye (1819-1900) by an open door. Colonel Adye stands to the left leaning against the wooden door with his hat under his right arm. Major-General Sir Dacres sits by the doorway with his legs crossed and his hands clasped on his lap. Captain Hamley sits to the right with a telescope in his hands and a sword resting on the rock beside him. They are all wearing military uniform. This photograph, printed by Jabez Hughes in 1883, is a carbon print pasted over the original photograph.

These three Officers served with the Royal Artillery during the Crimean War, with Major-General Sir Dacres commanding all of the British artillery forces during the later part of the conflict.
