Lietenant W Herbert J Disbrowe served in the Crimean War with his brother Lieutenant Edward Amelius Disbrowe, who was killed at the Battle of Inkerman. The Disbrowe family would have been known to Queen Victoria, since several of its members had served in the Royal Household.
