Photograph of Lieutenant-Colonel Munro (1818-1880) and officers of the 39th Regiment. Lieutenant-Colonel Munro stands at the centre of the group looking slightly left, with two officers standing on either side of him. One officer is lying on the ground to the left. All are wearing military uniform and carry guns. There are three wooden huts in a row behind them.
Throughout his military career Lieutenant-Colonel Munro was a keen botanist, and he sent specimens collected in the Crimea to Queen Victoria.
