Photograph of a group of soldiers from the 47th Regiment gathered around a cooking stove. Three soldiers stand to the right with one leaning forward with his hands on the stove. Another man lies on the ground to the left next to a stone wall. They are wearing winter dress including fur coats and hats in preparation for fighting in the trenches. A hillside can be seen behind. The 47th Regiment served in many of the major battles of the Crimean War including the Siege of Sevastopol.
