Photograph of Lord Kirkwall mounted on a horse facing left. He is wearing trousers in the tartan of his regiment the 71st Highlanders and there is a sword attached to the saddle beside him. A small dog lies on the ground in front of him and buildings and a hill can be seen behind.

Lord Kirkwall served in the Crimean War with the 71st Highlanders and later became the 6th Earl of Orkney.
