Photograph of General Bosquet mounted on his horse Bayard. He is facing left and is wearing full military uniform including a bicorn hat. There is a tent behind and a camp can be seen in the distance.

General Bosquet was a senior French military figure during the Crimean War and was involved in the Siege of Sevastopol and the Battle of Inkerman. The horse is named after a French knight, Pierre Terrail, Chevalier de Bayard (1473-1524) who was said to be 'the knight without fear and beyond reproach'.
