Albumen print | 24.9 x 34.1 cm (image) | RCIN 2500515

Photograph of Sevastopol taken from a distance. There is a rock in the foreground to the left and open land behind, with trench lines running across it. The town and harbour of Sevastopol can just be seen in the distance. The Siege of Sevastopol was a major component of the Crimean War, lasting from October 1854 to September 1855. The troops engaged in the siege camped in the countryside surrounding the town.
