Photograph of Captain Yates standing with a horse, groom and dog in an area of open land. He is wearing military uniform and standing facing slightly left in front of the horse. He holds a sword in his left hand and there is a dog on the ground beside him. The groom stands to the left of the horse holding the reins. Captain Yates served during the Crimean War with the 11th Hussars and was present during the Charge of the Light Brigade.
