Photograph of a full length double portrait of Victoria, Princess Royal, later Empress of Germany (1840-1901) and Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse by Rhine (1843-78). The young princesses face towards the camera, posing arm in arm. The Princess Royal stands and Princess Alice sits beside her. They wear long skirts with fitted jackets, and hats.
