Photograph of a full length portrait of Valentine Augustus Browne, Viscount Castleross, later 4th Earl of Kenmare (1825-1905) seated cross-legged at a table, facing left. He turns his head and looks towards the camera. He holds a newspaper in his left hand and a cane in his right. 

Browne was Comptroller from 1856 to 1858, Vice-Chamberlain from 1859 to 1866 and 1868 to 1872, Lord-in-Waiting  from 1872 to 1874 and Lord Chamberlain from 1880 to 1885 and 1886.
