Photograph of a full length portrait of Richard Buckner standing, facing three-quarters to the right. He poses with his right hand in his trousers pocket and his left hand by his side.

Buckner was an English painter of portraits and Italian subjects. After serving in the army he studied in Italy for many years. There are a number of paintings in the Royal Collection, some of which were used to decorate door panels at Windsor Castle, for example RCINs 402569, 403866-403868, 403877, 403878.
