Buckner was an English painter of portraits and Italian subjects. After serving in the army he studied in Italy for many years. There are a number of paintings in the Royal Collection, some of which were used to decorate door panels at Windsor Castle, for example RCINs 402569, 403866-403868, 403877, 403878.
