Photograph of a full length portrait of Princess Louise, later Duchess of Argyll (1848-1939), standing, facing halfway to the left. She turns her head towards the camera and looks downwards, to the left. She rests her left arm on a nearby plinth and holds a book open with both hands in front of her chest. There is a plumed hat and striped shawl on a balustrade behind her.
