Photograph of a full length double portrait of Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine (1843-78), and Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII (1841-1910), both seated. Princess Alice is seated facing left, her face captured in profile. She touches her cheek with her right hand and holds a book in her left hand. The Prince of Wales is seated behind her, perched on a balustrade. He looks down at her and poses with his right hand on his hip and his left hand in his lap.
