Photograph of a full length double portrait of Prince Louis, later Grand Duke of Hesse (1837-92), and Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine (1843-78), standing, arm in arm. Princess Alice, on the right, stand facing towards Prince Louis, on the left. She turns her head towards the camera and looks to the right. Prince Louis stands facing the camera.

The couple were married in 1862.
