Photograph of a full length portrait of Prince Maurice of Saxe-Altenburg (1829-1907), standing, facing three-quarters to the left. He places his right hand on the back of a chair. He wears the uniform of General of Cavalry in the Prussian army. A broadsword hangs by his left side.

In 1862 Prince Moritz married Princess Augusta of Saxe-Meiningen, daughter of Bernhard II, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen. They had five children.
