Hand-coloured daguerreotype of Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. He is sitting with his body turned to the left but his head turned to the right. He is wearing a dark suit and holding a walking cane in his right hand. The daguerreotype is mounted in a brown leather case which is made to look like a book. 'L.C 1852' is embossed in gold on the lid. Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was a first cousin of both Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
