Hand-coloured photograph of a half length portrait of Prince Alfred, later Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1844-1900). The Prince is facing slightly to the left and looks away from the camera. He wears a tartan waistcoat under a green coat, a white shirt and a blue tie. The photograph is framed in a purple leather and velvet case marked 'Alfred / Christmas 1856'.
