Rectangular wooden frame containing a hand-coloured glass slide of Prince Albert. The half length portrait shows Prince Albert in profile facing right wearing a jacket and neck tie. The background is painted black. The glass is viewed through a circle cut into the wood and is left exposed on the reverse. 'The Prince Consort' is handwritten on two sides of the frame and '6 weeks before he died. Painted by himself' is written on the reverse.
