Inglefield led the search for Sir John Franklin who dissapreared with all his crew whilst trying to find the North West Passage in 1845-47. Inglefield was Captain of an expedition to deliver supplies for another search for Franklin that was led by Sir Edward Belcher in 1853 and 1854.
