Photograph of a detail of a watercolour, 'Memorial portrait to the Prince Consort'. The watercolour depicts a half length portrait of a young Prince Albert, depicted in armour and sheathing his sword. The action of sheathing his sword is intended to indicate that the battle of life is over.
The watercolour exists in the Royal Collection, RCIN 927595. Queen Victoria had the original watercolour inserted into the door of the Blue Room at Windsor Castle, where the Prince had died.
