Photograph of the painting 'The Mock Election' by Benjamin Robert Haydon (1786-1846). At the centre of the work is a polling station. The polling station is surrounded by a large crowd of people.
The painting (RCIN 405824) was lent to the 1857 Manchester Exhibition by Queen Victoria (1819-1901). The painting remains in the Royal Collection.
