Photograph of a painting of a half length portrait of Don Baltasar Carlos, also known as Balthasar Charles, Prince of Asturias (1629-46). The sitter faces slightly to the left and gazes at the viewer. He wears an embroidered jacket and a sash.

At the time of the photograph, the painting was attributed to Diego Velázquez (1599-1660). The painting is very similar to his painting of the same subject, dating from 1640. It is possible the painting is by a follower of Velázquez.
